Easter Perspective

Thank the Lord it’s not up to us!

Salvation, that is – the gift of eternal life.

Thank the Lord, because if you’re anything like me, you mess up 97% of the time. No matter how hard you try. No matter your good intentions. No matter your skills. We all mess up.

Thank the Lord it’s not up to us, because as it is, relationships struggle, and people hurt.

Thank the Lord that Easter is not all about chocolate and sugar and ham and colorful eggs, because in spite of the bright, cheery colors this day brings? that would be a bleak end to the story.

Thank the Lord it’s up to him, and that it’s already taken care of. That the sins and the mistakes and the unkind words and the thoughts have been washed away, that I am not held responsible for paying off that debt, because how could I ever?

Thank the Lord that Easter is about a salvation that I could never achieve, and that my constantly failed efforts to fix, to heal, to level up, are not the end of the story.

Thank the Lord. For hope, and sunrise, and new and everlasting life.
